MSTRS®ECB-2
Pheromone
mating disruption formulation for controlling European cornborer (Ostrinia
nubilalis)
European
corn borer adults mate in grassy areas near streams within the cornfield
and in the surrounding borders. These grassy regions are the target areas
for deploying MSTRS®ECB-2.
The MSTRS®ECB-2
dispensers must be attached to stakes at a height of 5 - 6.5 feet above
the ground, at a density of 7 - 14 dispensers per acre of grass (this
approximates to 0.7 - 1.4 dispensers per acre of corn, or approximately
1 dispenser per 0.7 - 1.5 acres of corn). This is achieved in grassy borders
by spacing the dispensers at 25 yard intervals. In interior grassy areas
and along waterways and terraced areas more than 20 yards wide, a 25 yard
spacing around such areas must also be used. If the area is less than
20 yards in width then the dispensers must be staggered at 25 yard intervals
from one side of the area to the other.
Deploy MSTRS®ECB-2
immediately prior to the first emergence of European corn borer moths
in early summer. The dispensers will emit effective amounts of pheromone
for 60 days.
MSTRS®ECB-2
impedes the mating of the European corn borer moths in grassy areas in
and around cornfields. Because of the local movement of adult females,
mated females from untreated areas can invade treated areas, therefore
it is advantageous to treat as large an acreage of corn as possible.
