Assistant Scientist and Technician in Semiochemical-based Pest Control
An Assistant Scientist/postdoc position is available immediately at the MSTRS Technologies, Inc. (a biotech company located in Iowa State University Research Park). He/She will contribute to innovative research investigating semiochemical-based strategies for controlling agricultural and urban pests, which lead to novel product development. Essential functions will be conducting research in chemical ecology and its practical application. Responsibilities will include management of the research laboratory, performance of chemical analytical instruments (GC, GC-EAD, GC-MS) and maintenance. This position requires good communication and organizational skills in order to coordinate bench work and management of trialed new products. Additional laboratory work may involve field work during the summer. The responsibilities of this position will also require data management skills and the ability to work effectively as a sub-project leader. A Ph.D. or Master Degree in Biology, Entomology or Chemical Ecology with an emphasis on semiochemical associated behavior is preferred.

A technician position is also available. He/She will involve field and laboratory research investigating various aspects of semiochemical-based management of agricultural and urban insect pests. The candidate will possess a B.S. in entomology or a related biological science. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in insect pest management or medical entomology. Experience with insect identification, rearing, and bioassay method is also a plus.

Appointment begins with a term of 12 months with a competitive salary. Position may be renewed beyond original term depending upon funding and satisfactory job performance.
